Fundamental Garage Presents: Mixology Eleven by Tessela

Number eleven in the Mixology series is an introduction of sorts for the Yorkshire production protégée Tessela. His work came to our attention due to some justified hype from another Leeds bass-merchant Hackman that centred around some shit-hot dubplates currently doing the rounds. Tessela has already garnered a decent amount of support from many factions in the post-dubstep world including Jamie Grind, Donga, Kingthing and more. His productions showcase a solid craft-work and are archetypal of the new strain of 2-step derived music we that take pleasure in pushing here at Fundamental. The A-side to his debut release forthcoming on the Shifting Peaks imprint is titled You Give Me Something and packs a warm, iridescent, filtered synth bass together with a thumping rhythmical swagger. Elsewhere on the much-hyped Acid Test is a psychotropic concoction of pitched vocal cuts, filter-work, 303-derived synthlines paired with a more traditional clipped garage groove. His Mixology is a steadily paced jaunt that features tracks from Deadboy, Hackman, Pariah, Julio Bashmore and a few cuts from himself.

First time we ever met Bok Bok I remember sittin backstage in Stereo with a blinking bar light, sat on cheap plastic seating with Jack Revill aka Jackmaster talking about how metronome-tight Oneman was – How he was ‘techno tight’. I mean, a DJ’s-DJ is kind of a rare thing in 2011 when even the guy who cleans your windows probably fucks with Serato. But Oneman is just that and here he explains why with an excellent tracklisting that’s so on-point with references we love that we feel almost embarrassed like he dropped the Quiet Storm instrumental in just for us.
