Tenement Sound Podcast 31 - D.Y.P.

First guest mix of the year for the Tenement Sound podcast series and to set the tone we’ve got D.Y.P bringing some deep west coast flavour and oh so right grooves. You might have caught his sets on SubFM, a heady mix of old and new house and garage flavours, flavours that have certainly found their way into his own productions.

His latest release on L2S, a collab with another Perth bwoy Rekab, is a slightly more militant affair heavy on the 808 and re-cut vocals that slips in nicely along side cuts of funky and new school bass alike. It’s this great taste in music that has also seen some massive gigs and supports lately with what must surely be one of the biggest highlights landing a slot on the taste making phenomena The Boiler Room show! One of the most consistant and driven producers of a generation, it’s always a pleasure to have Ruckspin on EE …Part of the famous ‘Ranking Records’ collective (EE’s most loved mix ever), one half of Tectonic’s ‘Author’ and as sound designer of ‘Submotion Orchestra’ it seems Dom Ruckspin can’t sit still .. give the man an Xbox someone !!!

“This mix includes several of my favourite tracks at the minute, from more laid-back soulful tracks like Planas’ “Breathless” and Riskotheque and Marchmellow’s remix of “Don’t Explain” through to heavyweight melon-twisters like Jack Sparrow’s “Afraid of me” and Goth Trad’s “Mach”. The mix includes some of my favourite tracks from Rob Booth’s recent EE compilation, and there are also a few of my own tracks in there just for good measure. Tenement Sound Podcast 23: Brookwise - BASS JAMS

Thought I’d share some of the newer bass bits I’ve picked up over the last couple of months. We can’t be living in the smoky garage haze of ‘98 forever now can we?? Still, I find it highly satisfying that even though that original sound is close to 15 years old, nearly all these tunes have their roots in the old school jungle and garage culture…and there ain’t nothing wrong with that!
